HOW DOES BAKER COLLEGE ONLINE WORK?
How does Baker College Online work?
Upon enrollment, you will be assigned passwords and login instructions and a short technical orientation that teaches you to use the internet-based system. This happens during your first class, or in a separate orientation.
As a student at Baker College Online, you are expected to participate in online classroom regularly. This includes discussion, submission of regular assignments and group activities. Your instructors will give you very detailed instructions to guide you through this process. You will never be unaware of what is required of you.
When do I attend classes?
Baker's online programs are not dependent on time or location. Online, you will read lectures, participate in discussions and complete exams. Some of the assignments and exercises required will still be completed off-line using standard word processing software. Our system is open 24/7.
What is an online class like?
Courses are broken down into equal parts called seminars - typically six weeks in length. On the first day of each seminar (week), your instructor will send information on the week's topic, states the assignments from the course outline and sends a lecture with discussion questions related to the topic to begin the study process.
During the week, you work on your assignments and participate in classroom discussion just as you would in a traditional classroom - using your computer to participate in discussions with your instructor and classmates, ask questions and receive feedback. When assignments are due, you send them to the instructor. Instructors grade your papers, provide comments and feedback, and keep you informed of your current progress.
How much is tuition at Baker College Online?
Baker College Online is one of the most affordable options for higher education available to busy, working, adult students. Our tuition costs are typically less than 1/2 that of other major online universities. Tuition is $190 per credit hour for Undergraduate programs and $330 per credit hour for Graduate programs. Though the tuition is low, the quality of your education remains high.

Most everyone who tries online learning likes it, but is best suited for those who have busy work and personal lives. Our online programs are designed to take advantage of technology. Our online delivery method gives you the same results as a campus-based education, but in a more efficient manner.
Will the lack of face to face contact make learning difficult?
No - Once acquainted with the process, most students report that an improved learning situation occurs. Our programs allow all students to participate anytime it is convenient, whether it's midnight or noon, at home, or while travelling. Our students have the opportunity to spend time reviewing class lectures and discussions and can compose their responses on their own schedule.
Do I have access to a library?
As a student of Baker College Online, you are entitled to use any of 9 campus libraries. You can access our libraries online 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. In addition to Baker's libraries, you also have access to many other libraries all over the country.
How can I find out of my credits will transfer to Baker College?
Students with previous college credit from an accredited college or university receive a transcript evaluation upon receipt of official college transcripts. An unofficial evaluation can be completed prior to enrollment upon request. These evaluations usually take 7-10 working days. Students will be contacted by their Development Coordinator when the evaluation is complete.
